The teachers start the program by making sure the child is comfortable in the water and building on their water confidence. There are 3 stages with in our Turtles programme. These lessons are aimed at children aged 5 and above, or children who have completed all the Duckling criteria. Turtles ( 5 Years Plus) (beginner To Stage 2) Our Turtles classes run for 25 minutes and have a maximum of 6 children in a class to one teacher. The teacher will guide the child through the different stages using toys and floats and fun based activities - engaging the child's imaginary play, while always promoting safety and confidence with in the water. We use back floats that can be reduced one layer at a time to allow for a slow transition to non-aided movement. Gradually developing the freedom of movement with less support as they move through the 5 stages. We then move on to develop water confidence, while working on basic movements swimming and skills in the water. We start the programme with introducing the children to water without parental support. All children start off working towards being safe and secure in and around water. Our Ducklings level swimming lessons run for 25 minutes and have a maximum of 6 children in a class to one teacher. Ducklings (3 Years - Until Their 5th Birthday) Children will go into the water with our Swimming teacher, Parents will watch fro the poolside

The program builds on the skills learned in the beginner’s class but is suitable for swimmers new to our program as well. This is achieved through using back floats, additional floats, and toys - allowing the child to learn basic swimming on the front and back. In the improvers class, we start to transition to more teacher based learning with support from the parent. These classes have a maximum of 9 parents and children in a class with one instructor. Starfish Improvers (18 Months - 3 Years) Our Starfish classes run for 20 minutes in the pool. We use floats, aids, and toys with the aim of the class to promote kicking and confidence within the water. In our beginners class, this is done by guiding the parent to introduce their child to the water. The program also starts to introduce the concepts of the swimmer wheel, such as floating, rotation and basic propulsion through a range of simple swimming actions. This relaxes the child and allows them to develop their swimming while giving the parent time to create a trusting bond with the child. The aim of the program is to give parents the opportunity to promote and create a safe and positive attitude towards swimming. Our classes, use songs, games, guided play, and discovery learning to develop water skills and confidence.
