On to the punch-ins: Granted, by this time I was so frustrated I may have been irrationally dumb.

Anyway, point is, I was thinking that Reaper would be the best DAW on EARTH if it simply had a windows-style selection tool (you know, drag a box around stuff then manipulate it all) Am I missing something stupid here? I've cried in the studio before, I'll do it again. I mean every time I tried, different parts of the chorus were left out, with the exact same parts selected! This had me ready to CRY. When I tried to duplicate this in Reaper, every time, it seemingly randomly picked and chose various layers to copy and paste. It's a whole lot faster than it just took to type it. I literally don't have to listen to it then I know it's perfect. I had to refund a whole session, though, because flying a chorus in Reaper was a nightmare, combined with the punch-in drama(more on that in a second).įor flying a chorus in Sonar, you simply spilt the tracks you want to copy at the nearest clean/open 1 beat (be it ahead or behind), use the selection tool to draw a box around the parts in question, rightclick>copy, use that clean one beat as a reference and paste them all on the same beat where the next chorus comes in. Sonar's vocal editing is like lightning, though, for me, I've been using it since ver.3. I can stack waay more vsti's before I gotta turn up my 0404's latency when compared to Sonar. I sooooooooo want to use Reaper in the studio, it's so stable and light on resources. The guys at the reaper forums can be very nerdy in a great way with automation, macros and methods of achieving faster comping and such than I have. I frequently lay down 10 takes and they all are visible on the track and you can click midstream to hear one or the other.

It is nice to be able to drag on the timeline and select a range and then boom boom boom. The only DAW I have an itch to try is the new upcoming Presonus DAW.Īs to the reference for tedious punch ins.

You owe it to yourself to try the demo - dig in and really learn the features. The routing is unmatched compared most DAWS - anything can go anywhere the editing is fast and effortless fades are very easy it has a better audio engine that PTLE the list goes on and on. PTLE for a project (since it was still my trusted DAW) and I felt However, as I played with the demo and got used to it, I went back to It tooka bit getting used to and I had to break out Don't know aout others but Reaper is worth the price of most DAWs out
